Spell of the Week

Before You Begin

Life moves quickly, and our homes quietly hold everything we carry through the door. This week's working is a small act of care, a way to clear the air, settle the energy, and draw a calm, protective line around the space you live in.

It draws on old folk traditions, salt at the threshold, smoke in the corners, a candle lit with intention. Nothing here is complicated. Gather what you have, take your time, and let the ritual below do the rest.

Spell of the Week

Home Protection Ritual

❖ ❖ ❖
Beginner Ritual

A gentle ritual to clear the air in your home and set a calm, protected boundary around it. No experience needed, just a quiet evening and a little intention.

LevelBeginner
What You Will Need

  • One white candle, for purification and protection
  • Sea salt (table salt works too)
  • A small bowl of fresh water
  • A cleansing herb: dried sage, rosemary or a stick of incense
  • Optional: a piece of black tourmaline or hematite
The Ritual

  1. Clear the spaceOpen a window and tidy the room so energy can move. Take three slow breaths and decide that only what is welcome may stay.
  2. CleanseLight your herb or incense and let the smoke drift into the corners, doorways and along the walls. Move clockwise around the room.
  3. Set your saltSprinkle a thin line of salt across the inside of your front doorway, and any threshold that opens to the outside. Salt holds the boundary.
  4. Light the candlePlace it safely in the centre of the space. As the flame catches, say your intention out loud.
  5. Seal it inSit with the candle for a few minutes and picture a soft light filling every corner. Let it burn down safely, or snuff it out when you are ready.
  6. ReleaseThe next morning, sweep the salt away and rinse it down an outside drain, carrying the old energy with it.
The Intention

“This home is mine. It is cleansed, it is guarded, and only love and light may cross this threshold.”

Never leave a burning candle unattended.
